Blind Spot & Heated Mirror Replacement — Melbourne
Driver-assist mirror glass is where a wrong part gets expensive. Heated elements, blind-spot warning icons, auto-dimming layers and camera housings are all built into the glass or the housing, and a generic replacement kills the function permanently.
We identify the exact specification from a photo of the mounting plate, then fit glass that keeps every function your car left the factory with.
As Featured In
Blind-spot and heated mirror glass in Melbourne is not a part you can buy on shape alone. Two mirrors that look identical from three metres away can carry completely different electronics behind the glass.
Melbourne winters make the heated element more than a luxury. A demist function that has stopped working is a genuine visibility problem on a cold morning in the outer east, and it is fixable without a whole new mirror.

OUR SERVICE
ALL WORK GUARANTEED
All of our workmanship and products include a written warranty of 12 to 48 months, depending on the model and the work done. The terms and conditions are simple and straight-forward.
Of course, if any damage is caused by misuse, negligence or through an accident, we do not cover it!
What is actually built into the glass
Each of these is a separate layer or module, and each one has to be matched exactly. This is why driver-assist glass is quoted per car rather than off a price list.
A film bonded to the back of the glass with two spade terminals. Fit plain glass and the demist never works again.
The warning light sits inside the glass itself on most models, so the icon is part of the part number.
An electrochromic layer that darkens against headlights. Its own wiring, its own part.
Surround-view cameras live in the mirror housing. Those are quoted per vehicle and may need recalibration afterwards.

What driver-assist glass costs
Plain glass sits at the bottom of the ladder. Anything carrying electronics is quoted against your specific vehicle, because the part price is set by the manufacturer and varies enormously.
| What is broken | What we do | Typical cost* |
|---|---|---|
| Glass only | Correct ADR-compliant glass cut and fitted to your existing backing plate. | from $135 |
| Cover / housing | Outer cap swapped, glass and motor kept. | $150–$300 |
| Full mirror, plain | Whole assembly, manual or basic powered mirror. | $200–$350 |
| Full mirror, powered | Electric adjust, power fold or integrated indicator. | $350–$500 |
| Blind-spot, camera or auto-dim | Mirrors carrying driver-assist electronics. | Quoted per vehicle |
*Indicative bands. Anything with blind-spot monitoring, a camera or auto-dimming is quoted per vehicle. Send a photo of the mirror and we will price the exact part. Every band here comes from our national price guide — the single source of truth for what we charge. Read the full side mirror replacement cost guide.
Check whether the electronics actually failed or only the glass cracked. A cracked heated mirror whose element still works is a glass job. It is worth asking whether the demist and the warning icon still function before you accept a full driver-assist assembly price.
The Anatomy
What’s inside a car side mirror
Five parts that can fail independently — and only one that’s usually broken. That’s where the money-saver hides.

The 5 layers of a modern car side mirror — when only layer 1 is broken, you only pay for layer 1.
How to tell what your mirror carries
You can work most of it out from the driver's seat in under a minute, which makes the quote far more accurate before we arrive.
If your rear-demist button also heats the mirrors, you have heated glass. Most cars sold here since about 2010 do.
Start the car and check the top outer corner of the glass. A warning icon that lights briefly means blind-spot monitoring.
A small lens on the underside of the housing means surround view. That changes the part and sometimes needs recalibration.
If you can safely photograph the mounting plate behind the glass, the terminal count tells us exactly what the mirror carries.
Why choose Car Mirror Man in Melbourne
Glass, cover, motor and indicator are separate parts. We only ever change what is actually broken.
ADR-compliant automotive mirror glass, cut here — so we are never forced into a full-assembly-only part.
Home, work or the station carpark. Glass-only fits from outside, so the car can stay locked.
In writing. Unlimited on mirror glass for as long as you own the vehicle, three years on a full mirror assembly, twelve months on an individual replacement part.

Blind spot and heated mirror replacement Melbourne — your questions answered
How much is a heated mirror replacement in Melbourne?
Heated glass on its own is often close to standard glass pricing, which starts at $135. Anything carrying blind-spot monitoring, a camera or auto-dimming is quoted per vehicle.
Can I fit plain glass to a car that had heated mirrors?
You can physically, but the demist will never work again and it can fail a roadworthy if the vehicle was built with it. We fit the correct specification.
My blind-spot warning light has stopped working since a mirror was replaced. Why?
Almost certainly the wrong glass. The warning icon is built into the glass on most models, so a generic piece has no icon to light.
Do you need to recalibrate anything?
Glass-only work does not usually need recalibration. Camera housings sometimes do, and we will tell you before we start if yours is one of them.
How do I know which type my car has?
Start the car and watch the top outer corner of the mirror for a warning icon, and check whether the rear-demist button warms the mirrors. Or send us a photo.
Do you come to me?
Yes. We are mobile across metro Melbourne and fit at your home or workplace.
How long does it take?
Glass replacement is twenty to forty minutes. A full assembly with driver-assist hardware can take longer, and we say so when we quote.
What warranty do I get on driver-assist glass?
Mirror glass carries an unlimited warranty. The assembly carries three years and an individual part carries twelve months.
